Deion Sanders shocked the college football world when he became the next head football coach at the University of Colorado. There was much skepticism about whether he would depart from Jackson State University after a successful head coaching career leading Jackson State to a 26-5 record in three seasons, the team’s first 11-win season, and a SWAC title.
Coach Prime’s responded to his critics by saying, “I’m coming.” In just four months, he has excelled in recruiting, signing two five-star prospects in one class, seven four-star prospects which tie a program high and two prospects from England.
Another area Coach Prime has undeniably impacted is boosting the star power of the University of Colorado football program. The type of star power that has everyone in Boulder, Colorado excited and hopeful for this upcoming season.

Colorado sold that same amount on the first day of 2023 ticket sales. As much as fans are anxious to get their eyes on Colorado’s new roster additions, we must remember that the Coach Prime Effect is in full swing. The same swagger, attitude and Super Bowl champion pedigree that Sanders exuded in his playing career is coming to the sidelines on Saturday.
Fans will get a first-hand preview of the new-look University of Colorado football team on April 22 as they will be the only spring game that will air on ESPN. The spring game will be one of the main attractions for the University of Colorado’s Black & Gold day, presented by the Children’s Hospital of Colorado.
