College Sports Commission Releases July 2026 Report on NIL Deals

The College Sports Commission released a new NIL Data Report with figures current as of July 1, 2026.
As a reminder, the thresholds for CSC review have changed in recent months. Originally, any deal over $600 (including multiple deals with the same party that are $600 in the aggregate) must be submitted to NIL Go. Then it would be assessed to determine whether it was with an “associated entity,” and, if so, reviewed for compliance with being for a “valid business purpose” and within a “reasonable range of compensation.”
As of July 2026, the CSC announced deals valued between $600-$15,000 would not be subjected to range-of-compensation review until an athlete reaches a total of $50,000 in “associated” deals over the course of an academic year.
Here are some key stats provided by the CSC for deals reviewed since NIL Go’s inception last summer through July 1, 2026:
- 34,195 deals approved for a total value of $355.24M
- 1,812 deals not cleared for a total value of $89.85M
For this calendar year, there have been 16,874 deals cleared for a total of $228.03M and 1,288 deals no cleared for a total of $74.91M.
The CSC says 41% of deals submitted to NIL Go are resolved within 24 hours, while 63% of deals were resolved within seven days following the submission of all required information.
Two cases have gone to arbitration now. In May 2026, the CSC scored a major victory when an arbitrator upheld its rejection of $7.5M in NIL deals between 18 Nebraska football athletes and Playfly Sports. The issue here was the “warehousing” of rights not meeting the “valid business purpose” requirement.
In June 2026, an arbitrator ruled in favor of two University of Georgia athletes whose deals had previously been blocked by the CSC for not meeting the “reasonable range of compensation” requirement. CSC thereafter revised its range of compensation model with new data, which then allowed the deals to be approved.
