Eight College Basketball Athletes Featured in Postseason NFT Collection

NFTs will go up for auction March 7-21

Candy Digital NFTs for college basketball postseason

Candy Digital is rolling out its “Candy Sweet Futures Basketball” NFT collection March 7-21, 2022, just in time for college basketball’s postseason. University of Memphis’ Jalen Duren, University of Notre Dame’s Blake Wesley, and University of Nebraska’s Bryce McGowens are the first three college athletes whose NFTs are available for purchase.

Candy Digital’s team of motion artists and designers brought eight players to life by uniquely combining 2D photography of them in-action with immersive digital environments. Each digital collectible features a futuristic, illustrated style inspired by the lines on basketball courts and the to-be-written future for each player.

“I’ve been very selective about the brands I partner with, including in the new and exciting world of NFTs,” Duren said. “Candy Digital has quickly become a leader in the NFT marketplace and is the perfect fit for me to join their Sweet Futures program.”

Here’s the full lineup of athletes:

  • University of Memphis’ Jalen Duren (available March 7)
  • University of Notre Dame’s Blake Wesley (available March 7)
  • University of Nebraska’s Bryce McGowens (available March 7)
  • Wisconsin University’s Johnny Davis (available March 14)
  • University of Alabama’s JD Davison (available March 14)
  • University of Iowa’s Keegan Murray (available March 14)
  • Gonzaga University’s Chet Holmgren (available March 21)
  • Baylor University’s Kendall Brown (available March 21)

There will be four different rarities for each player and drops will occur on Monday, March 7, 14, and 21.

“I’m thrilled to be part of the inaugural Candy Sweet Futures hoops lineup alongside some of the top players in the country,” Holmgren said. “Candy is reimagining the way fans can celebrate the sport and players they love, and I look forward to sharing the new NFTs soon.”

Auctions are held on Bitski, with an action going live every Monday from 12pm ET to 7pm ET Thursday. If a bid is made within the last five minutes, the auction will stay open for another five minutes. The time windows are specific to Core editions and 1:1 auctions. Epic and Rare editions are only available until they sell out.

Here are some additional details on the drop:

  • Auction for 1:1 Legendaries
  • 100 Epic editions, priced at $350
  • 300 Rare editions, priced at $150
  • Four-day open edition for Core editions, priced at $20.22
  • Core editions will be available from 12pm ET Monday through 7pm ET Thursday ET during each Drop

“Candy Sweet Futures” launched in July 2021 as an initiative focused on bringing the NIL rights of student-athletes to the market with one-of-a-kind digital offerings, beginning with elite college football players. All 22 athletes sold out of their Rare edition NFTs at $250 each within minutes of dropping, and Clemson starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei’s 1-of-1 auction sold for $19,500.
