Which Teams Are Traveling the Furthest This College Football Season?

Thanks to conference realignment, some college football teams will be traveling even further than usual this season for in-conference matchups. Travel search site KAYAK crunched the numbers to reveal which schools will be clocking the most miles this season for in-conference games, as well as which schools will be seeing the biggest YoY changes thanks to conference realignment.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack will see the biggest increase this year with a 655% year-over-year change in miles traveled, followed by Georgia Tech (232% YoY), Cal (298% YoY) and Wake Forest (272% YoY). 

Big 10 schools will also see a big change with UCLA (225% YoY), Stanford (191% YoY) Oregon (175% YoY), Washington (166% YoY) and Iowa (154% YoY) all falling within the top 10 schools with mileage increases of over 100% YoY. 

At 8,312 miles to travel this season, Washington will have to travel more miles than SEC teams Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Texas and Vanderbilt combined. 

Schools with the most in-conference miles this football season include: 

1. Washington (Big 10) – 8,312 miles
2. Cal (ACC) – 8,254 miles 
3. Stanford (ACC) – 7,051 miles 
4. UCLA (Big 10) – 6,878 miles
5. Oregon (Big 10) – 6,241 miles 
6. Georgia Tech (ACC) – 5,736 miles (3,920 of those miles are for the  2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin)
7. Florida State (ACC) – 5,724 miles (4,111 of those miles are for the  2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin)
8. University of Miami (ACC) 5,275 miles
9. Utah (Big 12) – 4,841 miles 
10. USC (Big 10) – 4,806 miles 
11. UCF (Big 12) – 4,769 miles 
12. Arizona (Big 12) – 4,669 miles

If you look at both in-conference and out-of-conference matchups, the list shuffles a little but has many of the same schools:
