Bud Light Releases Limited-Edition College Football Cans to Kickoff Season

Last Updated on September 2, 2024

To kick off the college football season, Anheuser-Busch released limited-edition Bud Light cans for 26 programs. Bud Light announced the new campaign by enlisting comedian and actor Shane Gillis and his longtime comedy partner, John McKeever.

In partnership with Gillis, Bud Light will deliver college football scenarios featuring the comedian’s unique humor throughout the season. In the first installment, the brand showed that a cold Bud Light is nearly impossible to resist in the Dean’s office, even if that means making some embarrassing confessions. While cracking open an ice-cold Bud Light, Shane Gillis, as Coach Herb, shares his secret, leading to a cascade of stories and cheers.

The campaign features bold logos and vibrant colors, perfectly aligning with Bud Light’s brand. Bud Light is expanding its reach at college football events by blending the excitement of game day with the memories associated with its popular team-themed cans collection.

The schools included in this new collaboration include Arkansas, East Carolina, Florida, Fresno State, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, LSU, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech, and Wyoming.

“College football fans are some of the most passionate, dedicated fans out there, and we are so proud to partner with teams across the country to make all of the special gameday moments even easier to enjoy,” said Todd Allen, SVP Marketing, Bud Light. “As a passionate college football fan, Shane was the perfect partner to connect to our college football audience with his distinct style of humor. And it doesn’t hurt that he loves a Bud Light or two on game day.”

Gillis, known for his recent hit comedy special “Beautiful Dogs” on Netflix, is enthusiastic about the collaboration.

“I like football and beer, especially Bud Light,” Gillis said. “It was fun to work with McKeever and Steve on this.”
