ICON for Illini, the University of Illinois athletics’ preferred name, image and likeness collective, recently announced a partnership that is expected to improve its operations.
The program is joining forces with Basepath, an NIL operations software, in order to streamline communications between Fighting Illini college athletes and local fans, businesses, non-profits and community organizations. Serving as a centralized hub, athletes will also have access to Basepath Wallet, a mobile app that will help manage their finances, employment income, and university grants.
Kathleen Knight, the collective’s President and CEO, believes the partnership will present even more opportunities for its 500+ college athletes to benefit off of their NIL.
“Our Illini athletes deserve nothing but the best, and our partnership with Basepath exemplifies our commitment to providing the most robust NIL opportunities to them.,” said ICON for Illini President and CEO Kathleen Knight. “By harnessing Basepath’s technology, we are able to bring new and exciting opportunities to our student-athletes and broaden the community of generous supporters of these NIL efforts.”
The collective, which works to create meaningful NIL opportunities for Fighting Illini college athletes, offers five different giving levels ranging from $25/month all the way up to $1,000/month. Each giving level offers a different set of exclusive benefits that increases with the commitment.
“We are thrilled to team up with ICON in supporting their mission to bring meaningful value to their student-athletes,” said Thomas Thomas Jr., Basepath’s Co-Founder and CEO. “With our platform’s integrated solutions, both ICON for Illini and their student-athletes will be able to leverage the best practices that we’ve gathered across the network of our dozens of customers and users.”
ICON for Illini is just the most recent collective around the country to join forces with the operations software company. Other partners of Basepath include University of Louisville’s 502Circle and Florida State University’s Rising Spear Collective.
