The Big 12 Conference has announced a partnership with WWE wrestling for the 2023 Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship, scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 2, in Arlington, Texas.

As part of the collaboration, a WWE Superstar will present a championship belt featuring the WWE x Big 12 logo to the game’s Most Outstanding Player. Additionally, fans will be able to purchase limited edition collaboration merchandise to commemorate the event. The wrestling stars will also be featured in Big 12-sponsored community events throughout the afternoon, and will take part in the game’s coin flip.

“WWE is a global brand that connects with a wide array of audiences,” the Big 12 Conference Commissioner Brett Yormark said. “With this partnership, we will integrate WWE and its brand power into one of the Conference’s biggest moments, further strengthening the bridge between sports and entertainment throughout the Big 12.”

The Texas Longhorns will face off against the Oklahoma St. Cowboys in the Big 12 Championship on Saturday, December 2.

The WWE has steadily expanded its footprint in college athletics for two years through initiatives like the Next In Line name, image, and likeness program. The initiative has fostered collaborations with college athletes in many different sports.

Athletes in the program enjoy access to valuable brand-building resources and the opportunity to visit WWE’s headquarters in Orlando, Florida. Notable figures from the inaugural Next In Line class include Haley and Hanna Cavinder and Olympic gold medalist Gable Stevenson, who is signed with WWE.
